PsyWar

This film explores the evolution of propaganda and public relations in the United States, with an emphasis on the “elitist theory of democracy” and the relationship between war, propaganda and class.

Includes original interviews with a number of dissident scholars including Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, Michael Parenti, Peter Phillips (“Project Censored”), John Stauber (“PR Watch”), Christopher Simpson (“The Science of Coercion”) and others.

Modern Money Mechanics

Here is a link to the pdf file, Modern Money Mechanics (a booklet produced and distributed free by the Public Information Center of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago), and below is a video clip (from the documentary “Zeitgeist: Addendum“) that explains the process of money creation as documented in the MMM booklet.  There are some really great quotes in there.

The U.S. Vs. John Lennon

A fascinating account of a relatively unknown piece of political history. Before the Iraq war and the Bush Administration, there was John Lennon, who used his fame and fortune to protest the Vietnam War and advocate world peace. This documentary is the compelling true story of how and why the U.S. Government tried to silence him, and the events that transformed him from a beloved musical artist into an anti-war activist and an inspirational icon. It will also show that this was not just an isolated episode in American history but that the issues and struggles of that era remain relevant today.

Conversations with Great Minds: Tom Shadyac

I’m posting this video because of the first half, but it’s all worth watching.  I’m looking forward to seeing Shadyac’s film “I AM”.  If you’ve seen it already I would love to hear your thoughts.  🙂

Renowned director and filmmaker, Tom Shadyac joins Thom for the first half hour of “Conversations with Great Minds”. They discuss how his love for film-making and how a very difficult experience led him to make a seminal documentary about some of the biggest challenges facing the world. In the second half of the show, Thom discusses the House’s decision to pass Speaker Boehner’s budget plan in the Weekly Rumble.

And here’s the trailer for “I AM”:

Oh!  And an awesome followup interview:

Meltdown

This is a global look at our current socioeconomic circumstances and a detailed account of how we got here; very interesting.  I’ve only watched part one so far, but I’m going to watch the rest as soon as I publish this.  🙂

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Part 4

Ok, I’ve watched them all.  They do a great job of documenting the downing of the financial dominoes all around the globe, but it doesn’t have the happy ending we’ve come to expect at the end of sad stories.  It doesn’t offer up any answers either.  I would go so far as to say it suggests (if not flat out states) there can be no answers.  Well I beg to differ.  There are plenty of answers out there, but those at the top, those with all the money, they are going to do what they can to keep those answers out of view.  They can only play this game for so long, because people around the world are starting to wake up.  It’s only a matter of time.

Into The Fire

This documentary focuses on the days leading up to, the days of the 2010 G20 summit in Toronto, Canada and the following aftermath.  Watch in total bewilderment as 20 people come together for a meeting that requires just short of one-billion dollars worth of police security.  Look on as peaceful protesters are harassed, attacked, beaten and detained.  Be dismayed as rights and civil liberties are trounced upon.  Then get mad as hell, start arming yourself with truth, knowledge and love.  We all deserve better than this.  I love you all.  Peace.
