My movie picks are not based on reviews. They’re simply movies that I would like to see. I’m not even giving them ratings. I’m just saying they look interesting to me. In the event I do see said movies, I’ll let you know what I thought. The following is a list of movies coming out in June that I would like to see:
In theaters Friday, June 6th
I’ve seen a few different trailers for Kung Fu Panda (rated PG) and they all lead me to believe it’s going to be a pretty good movie. It’s a computer generated cartoon, think Toy Story, only with animals instead of toys, and kung fun instead of Star Command tactics, starring the voice of Jack Black as an unlikely hero in the form of a fat, lazy panda. Lots of laughs and kung fu fighting. Still, I think I’ll wait for this one to go to video, and unlike with Speed Racer (dang it), I’m sticking to my guns.
You Don’t Mess With The Zohan (rated PG-13) looks like a pretty wild and crazy movie staring Adam Sandler. The trailer for this movie had me cracking up in the theater. This will surely be the next Sandler classic. The story is a simple one: A Mossad agent (Israeli special forces) decides to give up with ass kicking ways and trade in his arsenal of weapons to fulfill his a passion within him to become a hair stylist. Next stop, New York City. Inevitably his cover is blown, and mayhem ensues. Let the laugh fest begin.
Strangely enough, as much as this movie appeals to me, I rarely see comedies in the theater, preferring to get my laughs at home, so yeah, I’m waiting on this one too.
In theaters Friday, June 13th
Now here is a movie I do in fact plan on seeing in the theater, The Incredible Hulk (not currently rated, but I’m guessing it’ll be PG-13). Many people were disappointed with the first Hulk movie, and I admit it could have been a lot better, but I also thought they did a really good job of portraying the “comic book” Hulk. Most people disappointed with the first Hulk movie were expecting something closer to the “TV version” of the Hulk. Those people might be pleased to know that it would appear that the new Hulk movie is managing to capture many of the trademark visuals of the old TV Hulk series. Their totally reinventing both Bruce Banner (the Hulks puny alter ego) and the Hulk himself. Bruce will be played by Edward Norton (visually Ed would have been a good choice for the first movie) this time around, and the Hulk has had an angry/mean makeover. Yes, almost all of that was regurgitated from an earlier post I did, but hey, I still feel the same way, so it’s all good.
In theaters Friday, June 27th
Is it just me, or does Angelina’s arm look freakishly twig like in that poster? The name of the movie is Wanted (rated R). It’s kinda, sorta my type of movie, only, no, not really. At least that’s what I get from the trailer. A bit too much cornball for me considering it’s supposed to be an fantasy/thriller per other movie sites (looks more action/adventure to me). A little humor is always good, but the trailer led me to believe there was more than just a little in here, at least in the beginning. Anyway, the movie is about a second generation assassin, which is news to him (James McAvoy as Wesley Gibson). Enter Angelina Jolie, who has a lot of training for our would be assassin/hero. The movie gives off a Matrix like vibe with its law of physics breaking special effects. Smells a little like a comic book influenced flick, and that’s where my interest comes in.
But will I see it in the theater? I don’t think so, but I am looking forward to watching it at home once it comes out on DVD.
Next up to bat is Wall-E (not rated at this time). Yet another CGI cartoon from Walt Disney Pictures/Pixar. This one looks to be very cute and funny. Wall-E is a little robot left on Earth (which appears to be an abandoned landfill of a planet) in the year 2700. Wall-E is a clean up robot, plugging along until one day… I can’t do this. I actually felt like the trailer gave away a bit too much, and I don’t want to go down the same road. It looks to be fun for the whole family. The wife wants to watch it in the theater, but I’m not so sure I want to go pay the big bucks for what is sure to be a younger infested movie theater.
I’m thinking DVD, but it does look theater worthy, if you don’t mind the inevitable infestation.

Show's over folks.
BARACK OBAMA, The President Of The United States Of America
"Has anyone seen my panties?"
"Has anyone seen my rude little pig, er, um, I mean my daughter?"
"Hey, does anyone want to go out after the show for burgers and drinks?"
"Pssst... hey O. J.... you're a piece of SHIT!!!"
"You could be."
