The Devil (WordPress Tag Bug) Made Me Do It

I would like to apologize to any God fearing, gay haters out there that I might have offended with my 01/25/08 NEWS page. Just bad timing I guess. Here is the story to which I refer:

I believe my blog has been reported and marked as “mature” so my tags are no longer showing up in the tags list. My avatar will no long be making appearances on the WordPress home page. Struck down in my prime. WHY! Maybe it’s because my blog is mature in nature. I bill it as such.

Or maybe it has something to do with commenting on a couple of different Christian blogs yesterday. On one I said that gay people are born gay. On the other I said something about God giving me the ability to no believe in God.

Maybe I’m going to hell now, maybe not. In either case my blog will surely suffer the lack of exposure, especially after a sweet post about cooter. Dang it. Bottom line, it is a mature blog, so I gotta take it like a man.

The above story has been removed from my NEWS page. Turns out WordPress has some kind of bug running amuck, and it’s causing posts not to show up in tags. In my case I’m not even showing up in search engines. I can find older posts, but not my latest. See what’s being said for your self here:

All of these posts are dated 01/25/08, and all of these people are having the same/similar problem as me. Perhaps you’re a victim too, and don’t even know it. I’m still getting traffic via tags from older posts, but not from my latest posts. I’m all bummed and sad. Support told me they are working on the problem feverishly and they will let me know when they know something. I wonder how long that might be. Are any of you in this same boat?

Well, in the process of investigating this issue, it turns out they found a cure for the bug, and a fix for us poor folk afflicted by it. It’s at the end of that last forum post. Hallelujah!

To fix affected posts all you have to do is edit said post in some way, resave, and it’s all better. I just tried it, and it worked like a charm. I’m back in the tags and I found my latest post with Google too. I’m all fuckin happy now.

Be advised, if this fix does not work for you, they also said to limit tags/categories associated to the post to 12 or less. Still having problems? Contact support.

Now let me wrap this up with another heart felt apology to any God fearing, gay haters out there that I might have offended. It was my first time commenting on any such posts, and I just knew it couldn’t be a coincidence that hours later my posts were being blocked. Boy do I feel like a total ass now. So anyway, I’m sorry. Can’t we all just get along?
